Chuckles via www.icanhascheezburger.com. Not everyone "gets" this. Some people may pee a little from laughing so hard. Others simply scratch their heads and say "Huh?" Still, it makes me laugh. A lot. Laughter can only be good at this point.

Neglect

What you see here is a badly neglected blog. The weeds are high, shutters falling and blog code violations are racking up. Maybe just acknowledging I am neglecting my blog will boost my interest in writing again. I actually miss it.

It's Official - I Have a Therapist

A first for me. A couple weeks ago, I met my therapist. She was really sweet, easy to talk to, and a little bit quirky. She had a really funny accent. Funny thing is, the topic of breastfeeding was brought up -- by her! This was long before we got to the part where I told her about my volunteer work supporting breastfeeding mothers. She nursed her children, too. I feel really good about returning to her. The only thing is she is so overbooked that I have to wait an entire month before my next appointment. But we worked around the schedule by also making my third appointment for two weeks later. Once I get on the schedule, I'll be able to go in every two weeks. They have evening appointments so that my husband can watch the kids while I am gone. That is a huge relief!

Oh, one more thing about the therapist. She often brings her parrot to work with her. Told you she was quirky.

Imagine a Mother

Years ago, this poem was given to be by another mother. I recently found it in a box of pictures I had stored away. This poem touches me so deeply, especially as I can feel myself growing into this mother as the years pass.

Imagine a Mother

Imagine a mother who believes she belongs in the world.
A mother who celebrates her own life.
Who is glad to be alive.

Imagine a mother who celebrates the birth of her daughters.
A mother who believes in the goodness of her daughters.
Who nurtures their wisdom. Who cultivates her power.

Imagine a mother who celebrates the birth of her sons.
A mother who believes in the goodness of her sons.
Who nurtures their kindness. Who honors their tears.

Imagine a mother who turns toward herself with interest.
A mother who acknowledges her own feelings and thoughts.
Whose capacity to be available to her family deepens as she is available to herself.

Imagine a mother who is aware of her own needs and desires.
A mother who meets them with tenderness and grace.
Who enlists the support of respectful friends and chosen family.

Imagine a mother who lives in harmony with her heart.
A mother who trusts her impulses to expand and contract.
Who knows that everything changes in the fullness of time.

Imagine a mother who embodies her spirituality.
A mother who honors her body as the sacred temple of the spirit of life.
Who breathes deeply as a prayer of gratitude for life itself.

Imagine a mother who values the women in her life.
A mother who finds comfort in the company of women.
Who sets aside time to replenish her woman-spirit.

Imagine yourself as this mother.

Here I am!

Did you miss me? I have busied myself with other means of procrastination and seriously neglected my blog. And it shows. I am breaking the silence today to say that I am going to counseling! My first appointment is on October 30. The best part -- they have evening appointments, so my children can stay with my husband! I am so relieved to not have to worry about childcare or go to counseling with two girls who are 3 years and 1 year old. Can you imagine?

I already feel better knowing that I am taking an extra step to improve my well-being. I know I will benefit from the extra help, and I am excited about having this trickle down to my family.

Sanity Saver

The latest sanity saver on the market! A must-have for families with young children. Cook dinner without little ones at your feet. Wash dishes without the risk of all your dishes getting emptied onto the floor.

Just kidding. Today my baby girl is 11 months old. Her latest favorite activity is emptying the dog crate of the dog's blanket and crawling inside. Never one to miss an opportunity for little boy fun, my son locked the door behind her, then proudly asked me to come check out his little sister. I did, giggled a little, and went to get the camera before rescuing her.

It didn't traumatize her that much. She still crawls in at least once a day.

Apparently I'm Rated 'G'

Online Dating

Looks like it's family friendly around here. Somehow I don't see the content of this blog being the next Pixar movie.
